Gas safety tech company moves offices to gear-up for official launch

Gas Tag – a gas safety tech company – has moved into St Paul’s Square at the heart of Liverpool’s commercial district.

The founders – Stephen Ullathorne and Paul Durose – have already attracted over £1million of external investment. They spent nearly two years developing the technology that will revolutionise gas safety for millions of homes in Britain.

Their innovation allows Gas Safe Register engineers to sign-in by touching their mobile against a tag when visiting a registered property.

This provides the landlord with geo-tagged, time-stamped and photo-verified evidence of all work carried out.

Furthermore, it’s the first real-time system to monitor gas safety in homes. It means that landlords can access real-time data to ensure tenants are safe.

Their aim is to improve safety through technology into the work of gas servicing starting with housing authorities and large social landlords.

Most Significant Quantum Leap in Gas Safety for 20 Years

In fact, Gas Tag has drawn praise from the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Carbon Monoxide Group (APPCOG) Barry Sheerman MP, who said:

“This is the most significant quantum leap in domestic gas safety compliance in 20 years. It is refreshing to see a start-up use the latest technologies to deliver a product that could help protect hundreds of thousands of families in this country.”

As a result of their early progress, this has helped them to attract high profile board members. This includes Adrian Webb, a board director of the price comparison company, Gocompare.com PLC.

Paul, CEO of Gas Tag, said:

“We set out in 2014 with a single minded goal to solve a technological shortfall in gas safety. Most importantly the lack of a centralised gas works database that electronically logs, verifies and audits work across large housing networks.

“Our aim is to help landlords know in real time that gas appliances have been properly serviced and inspections completed thoroughly. Ultimately, this will help save tenants from the dangers of unregistered gas fitters.

“Thanks to two years of hard work and determination, we have succeeded in that development. We’re proud that with our move to St Paul’s Square, we can make Liverpool the centre of this exciting enterprise.”
