Gas Tag are finalists in the H&V News Awards

Our ground-breaking technology to keep people safe from the dangers of illegal gas fitters has been shortlisted for a highly respected national award.

Gas Tag, are finalists in the H&V News Awards for ‘Initiative of the Year 2018’. The awards recognise the top performing and most innovative businesses across the building services industry.

Gas Tag has been developed to ensure that the correct work is carried out on gas appliances at the appropriate time, by the right engineers. As soon as a physical Gas Tag is installed on the gas outlet in a property it tracks all the property’s gas appliances, services and installations – and can only be used by a qualified Gas Safe Registered engineer.

The company was founded in 2015 by Paul Durose and Stephen Ullathorne and already has a number of high-profile customers and significant order book. It harnesses the latest technology to help landlords, housing associations and local authorities to combat the scourge of illegal gas fitters and enforce gas safety regulations.

Gas Tag has recently signed a private equity deal with Waterland, valuing the company in excess of £20million.

Since launching in 2017, Gas Tag has won the backing of a number of MPs and industry figures, who believe the company’s technology, can bring about a revolution in gas safety.

The Heating and Ventilation News Awards, now in their 24th year, are an annual celebration of excellence, forward thinking and the highest achievements across the building services industry.

All finalists will now take part in Dragon’s Den-style face-to-face judging sessions in March that will help decide the winners.

Paul Durose, co-founder and chief executive for Gas Tag said: “Our aim is to enable social and private landlords to know in real time that gas appliances have been properly serviced and inspections have been completed thoroughly – saving tenants from the dangers of unregistered gas fitters.

“Thanks to two years of hard work and determination, we have succeeded in developing technology that meets that aim and more. We’re proud that we’ve been shortlisted in such a prestigious national award recognising innovation across the sector.

“It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Gas Tag team and I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved to date.”

The winners will be announced at the H&V News Awards on Thursday 19th April 2018 at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, London.
