Working within the safety and compliance sector we've found that there is a gap in knowledge around what housing organisations know about the work completed at their home and what their residents know. The truth is that residents should know equally as much as the landlord about the work which has been conducted at their property, or if work hasn’t been completed when it should have been.

Your home is usually where you spend the most time, so keeping it safe should be a top priority. At Gas Tag we work primarily in gas safety software, so we need to know a thing or two about gas. But as a resident we don’t expect you to know the ins and outs, for example, of servicing a boiler! If you did, that would probably be how you make your living, as a gas engineer! However, at the very least residents should be able to know if their home has been serviced by someone qualified at the right time.

What is KnowMyHome?

Developed by Gas Tag with the help of Housing Plus Group and their residents, KnowMyHome will be a website that gives residents visibility on the status and service safety of the appliances in their homes. Using KnowMyHome, residents can be reassured that their home appliances have been maintained by someone with the right qualifications to conduct the work.

  • Instantly View Service Documentation
  • Delve into Appliance Details
  • Accountability For Visiting Tradesman
  • Service History
  • Home Safety Status
  • Email Landlord Gas Safety Records

Why residents should have visibility

  • Alarmingly, 1 in 3 Gas customers in Great Britain - around 7.69 million households - admit they’ve never had their gas appliances checked or maintained. This is despite 8 in 10 people (82%) recognising that they should do it in order to protect themselves from gas dangers.
  • 1 in 6 British homes - the equivalent of 4.28 million households - have unsafe gas appliances.
  • 1 in 3 Gas Fires checked by Gas Safe Register were unsafe.
  • Out of the 1.1 million illegal jobs carried out every year, nearly 2 in 3 (61%) left victim’s homes unsafe.
  • 1 in 5 Gas Appliances inspected were deemed so dangerous that they had to be disconnected immediately.

And this is just Gas Safety!

This is why we are introducing KnowMyHome. It will be free for residents giving them visibility on the works done in their home for the first time.
